October Camping Adventure 2024:

This adventure was truly unforgettable. My camping companion and I embarked on a journey with the initial destination being Wishon Dam in the Sierra Nevadas. After hours of driving through the woods with no success in finding a suitable campsite, we made a decision to turn around and head in the opposite direction. On our way back, we were treated to a spectacular sunset that took our breath away. We paused briefly to admire it before resuming our journey.

We made our way to Bass Lake, CA and at around 9 pm, we finally arrived at the perfect secluded campsite. With darkness settling in and the temperature dropping, we wasted no time in gathering firewood, setting up our hot tent, and cooking some hot dogs over the fire.

The first night was magical. After setting up our cozy hot tent and getting the fire going, we crawled into our new sleeping bags from rei and drifted off to sleep. I took on the responsibility of maintaining the fire throughout the night while my camping buddy rested due to feeling unwell from consuming too many sugary drinks. I kept the fire going by adding logs and adjusting the stove every couple of hours, ensuring we stayed warm till morning.

The next day, after a breakfast of coffee and bacon, we made our way to Yosemite National Park. We explored the park, marveling at the waterfalls and watching climbers in action. Despite attempting to meet up with some friends in the park, we missed the rendezvous and instead decided to soak in the fall colors by driving through the backside of the park.

On the way back to our campsite, we were mesmerized by the sight of climbers scaling the cliffs at night, illuminated by lights. Our return to the campsite involved more wood chopping, hot dog grilling, and preparations for bedtime. This time, my camping buddy took on the task of tending to the fire while I snuggled up in my sleeping bag.

Sunday morning dawned, and peculiarly, we discovered that we had a single bar of service throughout the trip. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of coffee, cinnamon rolls, bacon, and even watched some football before packing up and heading back down the mountain, leaving the peaceful woods behind.
